THE 29th NAPEI Malaysian Education Fair is back with a host of private education providers to guide students in their educational pathway.

With the strong support of 60 National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI) members and other education institutions, the NAPEI fairs have provided educational services to parents and students every year.

The fair will launch the NAPEI Education Scholarship Fund to bring quality education to deserving students. Some of the participating NAPEI members include MAHSA University College, UCTI, ELS Language Centre, Kolej Sri, Malaysian Institute of Art, Olympia College, PTPL College, Saito College, The Otomotif College and many others.

Many private institutions, whose core business is education, will be displaying their services and provide counselling sessions to parents, children and school leavers.

More than 10,000 visitors are expected to crowd over 100 booths including a special India Education Pavilion for universities from India, during the two-day event which will take place at the Putra World Trade Centre on June 5 and 6, from 11am to 6pm.

The fair is endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education and is managed by StudyMalaysia Exhibition Sdn Bhd.

Monday, 05 May 2010

Taking 60-90 days or more to pay a bill is becoming more and more common. I?ve seen some business owners shrug their shoulders and just accept that nothing can be done about it. That?s just the way it is.

Naturally, I disagree with that approach. The reason you grant credit is to increase sales. But, the sales you want more of are the sales that pay and don?t drag your business kicking and screaming into the Cash Flow Swamp.

So, what?s a business owner to do?

Late paying customers can create a serious threat to the survival of your business.

A person with high blood pressure

Monday, 05 May 2010

A person with high blood pressure should consult a doctor to see how much sodium should be consumed daily. Normally, 2,000 to 3,000 milligrams (2 to 3 grams) is enough.

The most common dietary source of sodium is salt. Sodium is one of two minerals that constitute salt (the other is chloride). One teaspoon of salt contains an enormous 2,300 milligrams of sodium and you can imagine an entire day’s sodium consumption! This is not all; sodium is also “hidden” in your diet in other foods. The processed and packaged foods also contain sodium in varying amounts.

The Must Do’s

? Read all food labels – Most sodium in the diet comes from processed foods. This makes it important for you to check the nutrition facts label for sodium content.

Sunday, 05 May 2010

First, health insurance is simply the kind of insurance that is specifically designed to pay the costs of one’s health care services. A contract which can be monthly or annually between an individual and a health insurance for health related issues is health insurance policy. It’s only possible to get an affordable health insurance if you know the options available to you and you know what to do. No matter how juicy the health insurance deal that any health insurance company offers you looks, it’s wise to shop around between various health insurance companies and health insurance providers before making up your mind. Don’t forget that your rate of health insurance quotes will be determined largely by your current health; that’s why you should work hard on being healthy. It’s critically important for everyone to get a health insurance quote, no matter which health insurance provider you have chosen. For those that have health savings account, it will please you to learn that such health savings accounts are tax deductible. With the high cost of medications, the best way to keep your medical bills low is to work on ensuring you are healthy as much as possible. People that do not receive their health insurance from their jobs or from government programs do so themselves by paying premium directly to an insurance company. In conclusion, if you think health insurance isn’t important, know this – the death rate in any given year for someone without health insurance coverage is 25% higher than for someone that has health insurance.

These are commonly found at the checkout counters of supermarkets and other retailers.

Fixed position scanner: An industrial barcode reader used to identify products during manufacture or logistics. Most often used on conveyer tracks to identify cartons or pallets which need to be routed to another process or shipping location.

PDA scanner: A PDA with a built-in barcode reader.

The latest in

technology is mobile barcode scanners which use color code and mCode (new two-dimensional code format) to scan barcodes.

General purpose barcode scanners are used at checkout counters and hospitals. These are also used to process identification documents. Certain other kinds of scanners, like rugged scanners, are used in harsh or extreme conditions.

In two studies trying to find a link between sleep deficit and behaviour problems he stated that “it could be that sleep deficit causes the behavior problems or it could be that behaviour problems, and all that goes along with that, could make it harder for children to settle down for sleep, or that some unknown problem is causing both the sleep and behaviour problems.”

Whichever is the case he still claims that in some cases they have had success and achieved dramatic behavioral improvements simply by increasing a child’s sleep.

Although this should not be considered a solution for serious behavior problems, if your child seems unduly irritable, over-active or cranky you may find putting them to bed an hour earlier will create a drastic improvement.

HOW MUCH SLEEP DO THEY NEED?

Each individual has their own needs, but generally speaking the NSF suggests children three to five should get 11 to 13 hours of sleep (including naps); five to 12 year olds need 10 to 11 hours and teens 13 to 18 should try to get 8.5 to 9.25 hours per night.

If you suspect a problem related to sleep then consider whether you notice if the problem is connected.

In it, he says:

“Humans eating an enzyme-less diet use up a tremendous amount of their enzyme potential in lavish secretions of the pancreas and other digestive organs. The result is a shortened lifespan (65 years or less as compared with 100 or more), illness, and lower resistance to stress of all types, psychological and environmental. By eating foods with their enzymes in tact and by supplementing cooked foods with enzyme capsules we can stop abnormal and pathological aging processes.”

THESE SCIENTISTS ARE NOT CRACK-POTS WORKING ALONE

The raw food movement is gathering pace and the practice is becoming more mainstream now. In her book You Are What You Eat, Gillian McKeith places raw or living foods at the top of her list of Good Foods and has a section entitled The Case Against Cooking. Now don’t get me wrong; I’m not suggesting that you switch overnight to a 100% raw food diet. Though plenty do and never look back, it’s not always wise. Instead I would give the same advice as Gillian in urging you to eat something raw with every meal.

Just before I sat down to write this, I ate a yummy Quinoa Avocado Salad which other than the cooked quinoa was loaded with raw, enzyme-, EFA- and nutrient- rich foods.

Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health?s National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Statement on Thimerosal states that symptoms of Thimerosal exposure include mental retardation in children, loss of coordination in speech, writing, gait, stupor, irritability, and bad temper progressing to mania.

The FDA in 1999, under the recommended childhood immunization schedule, determined infants might be exposed to cumulative doses of ethylmercury that exceed some federal safety guidelines established for exposure to methylmercury, another form of organic mercury. Additionally it was noted that routine administration of childhood vaccines expose children to more than 100 times the Federal Safety Guidelines for orally ingested methylmercury.

In another study, mice were injected with ethylmercuri-S-cysteine (EMC) and found that the extent and distribution of cell damage was highly predictable, and selective necrosis of the small granular neurons was a constant finding. Thimerosal crosses the blood-brain and placental barriers and results in appreciable mercury content in brain tissue.

In another report the authors concluded that the elimination of methyl- and ethylmercury is very slow, especially in man and primates, and consequently there is a considerable risk of mercury accumulation.

The authors also found that the glutathione system is involved in the metabolism of Thimerosal or its decomposition products.

Sunday, 05 May 2010

This recurrent involuntary urination is also called Nocturnal Enuresis, which is characterized by at least two occurrences per month in 3 to 6 years old infants and at least one occurrence per month for older children.

Though it is considered normal for children below 7 years old to have enuretic episodes, 5% of 10 year old and 3% of 12 year old children, and as many as 1-3% of 18-year-old teenagers may continue to experience this disorder.

Primary and Secondary Enuresis:

Primary Enuresis is involuntary urination that occurs from infancy with at least two episodes a week, and comprised of 70-90% of all cases. Secondary Enuresis, on the other hand, refers to a relapse after experiencing an extended period of dryness. Adults are more likely to suffer from the secondary type.

Causes of Sleep Enuresis:

Sleep Enuresis can be caused by many factors including hormonal, dietary, or emotional factors.

One of the most common causes of Sleep Enuresis is the inability to develop the antidiuretic hormone cycle in some people. In this cycle, which is typically developed by individuals by the age of 2 to 6, the pituitary gland releases a hormone at night that promotes water retention in the kidneys, thereby reducing urine output till sunrise.

Today you see them

Sunday, 05 May 2010

Today you see them everywhere on all kinds of food products advertising ?rich in omega-3s?. What are omega-3s anyway, and do you really need them? The answer to the second part of that question is, ABOLUTELY. But why do we hear about omega-3s all the time? The answer to that is because most people today don?t get enough. Before I get into why that is, let?s look at what they do.

Omega-3s are one type of polyunsaturated fat that are called ?essential fatty acids? that you must get from your diet or supplements because your body can not make them. Another type of essential fats are the omega-6s. What is very important is the ratio that you get between omega-3s and omega-6s. You really need to be eating these in about the same amounts for your body to function optimally.

This is because these two types of fats have opposing functions and compete with each other in many physiological processes. For example omega-6s lead to inflammatory reactions, needed to turn your immune system into high gear when it detects and infection and omega-3s are anti-inflammatory, needed to turn the immune response off when it?s done.
